Improving Your Service 18 Journey During the York Christmas Market
2nd - 27th Dec 2024
We know the festive season brings excitement and challenges, and we understand that traffic, particularly on Fulford Road and around the Designer Outlet, has caused delays. To make your journeys more reliable and enjoyable, weβre introducing some changes from Saturday 7th December, to Saturday 21st December.
Weβve rerouted certain Saturday services to reduce congestion and get you to your destination more quickly:
Departures from Holme Moor at 09:28, 13:18, and 16:53, and North Duffield at 11:30
Normal route to Designer Outlet, then non-stop via Fulford Interchange, A64, Hull Road, James Street, Pavement, Stonebow, and Piccadilly, terminating at Merchantgate. (Note - The 16:53 will not serve Designer Outlet, diverting after Persimmon House.
Departures from York at 10:40, 12:20, 15:50, and 18:00
Before resuming regular stops from Designer Outlet, these routes will divert via Walmgate, Lawrence Street, Hull Road, A64, and Fulford Interchange.
More Travel Options with York Pullman My36 Bus:
Weβre thrilled to announce a partnership with York Pullman! On Saturdays, your tickets will now be valid on the York Pullman My36 bus between York and Wheldrake, offering extra flexibility and convenience during this busy time.

North Riding Service 81: Temporary Saturday Route Changes in York City Centre
4th - 21st Dec 2024
North Riding Service 81: Temporary Saturday Route Changes in York City Centre
Effective Saturdays: 7th, 14th, and 21st December 2024
North Riding Service 81 will operate a revised route in York City Centre on three Saturdays to improve service reliability during the busy festive season. These changes are intended to reduce delays caused by increased traffic.
Whatβs Changing?
York City Centre journeys will start and end at York Stonebow on these Saturdays.
The following stops will not be served on these dates:
Station Avenue
Rougier Street
Ouse Bridge
Why Are We Making These Changes?
The festive period increases traffic, causing delays for Service 81 and affecting Service 194 (Malton β Hovingham), which often follows the 81. By temporarily adjusting the route on Saturdays to avoid traffic hotspots, we aim to deliver a more reliable service, particularly for those travelling from outlying villages.
What Does This Mean for You?
Some delays may still occur but should be less frequent and shorter.
You can track your bus in real-time using the East Yorkshire Buses app, available for free on the App Store and Google Play Store.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to improve your travel experience during this busy period.
