Service 7 & 7A – Timetable Changes from Sunday 21 June

We would like to advise customers that revised timetables will be introduced on Services 7 and 7A from Sunday 21 June.

Working in partnership with North Yorkshire Council, York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, Schneider Electric, and York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are pleased to confirm that, from this date, all Service 7 and 7A journeys will serve the new Scarborough Community Diagnostic Centre at Eastfield. This will provide improved public transport links to this important new healthcare facility, which opens to patients on Monday 22 June.

The revised routeing will also improve access to the Schneider Electric manufacturing facility at Eastfield, providing employees, visitors and prospective staff with a direct and sustainable public transport connection to one of the area's largest employers.

Together, Services 7 and 7A will provide up to six buses per hour between Scarborough town centre and Eastfield during peak periods, giving patients, visitors, healthcare staff and local employees a frequent and convenient link to the Community Diagnostic Centre and surrounding employment sites.

The introduction of these new links has required some changes to the timetable. We appreciate that customers are receiving relatively short notice of these revisions; however, final confirmation of the arrangements was only received last week. Following that confirmation, we worked closely with our partners to introduce the new links as quickly as possible, ensuring that patients, healthcare staff, visitors and local workers can access these important destinations from the day the facility opens.

As part of the revision, the timetable has been redesigned to provide greater resilience against delays and improve reliability across the route. We have also been able to restore a timetable pattern that is much closer to a regular clockface service during peak periods, making journey planning easier for customers.

The introduction of these enhanced links has been made possible through the support of York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and Schneider Electric, whose financial contributions have helped fund the additional resources required to operate the service. This investment has enabled an additional vehicle to be allocated to the route, supporting the improved timetable, increased resilience and enhanced access to both the Community Diagnostic Centre and Eastfield employment sites.

We would like to thank York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, North Yorkshire Council and Schneider Electric for their support in helping bring these improvements to local public transport and ensuring that both healthcare facilities and major employment sites are better connected by bus.

The new timetables are now available online and through journey planning apps. Printed timetable leaflets are currently being produced and will be available shortly.

We thank customers for their understanding and continued support and hope these improvements will make it easier for more people to access healthcare, employment and other opportunities across the Eastfield area.
