Hull Bus AllicanceThe Hull Bus Alliance has published its latest bus punctuality figures, highlighting the ongoing work being undertaken by partners to improve the reliability of bus services across the city.

The Alliance, which brings together East Yorkshire Buses, Stagecoach East Midlands and Hull City Council, was established to identify and address the issues that impact bus reliability, ensuring customers can enjoy more dependable journeys throughout Hull.

The latest figures for August 2026 show that 89.82% of services departed their starting point on time, while 85.12% of journeys operated on time overall.

While partners recognise there is still more work to do, the figures demonstrate the continued focus being placed on improving punctuality and reliability, despite the growing pressures faced by urban transport networks.

Throughout September, the Hull Bus Alliance has continued to deliver a programme of improvement work, with operators and the local authority working closely together to tackle congestion hotspots, review network performance and identify opportunities to improve journey times for customers.

Hull City Council has played a key role in supporting these efforts, working alongside operators to better understand traffic conditions and develop measures that help keep buses moving efficiently through the city. This collaborative approach enables partners to use real-world operational data to identify issues and target solutions where they can have the greatest impact.

East Yorkshire Buses has also undertaken extensive work during September to improve service reliability, including reviewing route performance, refining operational practices, monitoring punctuality hotspots and working closely with depot-based teams and drivers to improve on-time running across the network.

Partnership working remains at the heart of the Alliance's success. By bringing together local operators and the local authority, the Hull Bus Alliance continues to develop practical solutions that support more reliable journeys, encourage greater use of public transport and help keep Hull moving.

Stuart Fillingham, Commercial Director at East Yorkshire Buses, said:

"Improving punctuality and reliability is one of the most important things we can do for our customers. People rely on our services every day to get to work, education, healthcare appointments and leisure activities, and we understand how important it is that buses arrive when they are expected.

"The progress being made is a direct result of the strong partnership between East Yorkshire Buses, Stagecoach and Hull City Council through the Hull Bus Alliance. By sharing data, identifying problem locations and working together on practical solutions, we are creating a better and more reliable bus network for Hull.

"September has seen a significant amount of work undertaken by all partners to improve journey reliability, from analysing performance data and reviewing bus operations to addressing congestion issues and identifying opportunities to improve traffic flow. While there is always more to do, we are encouraged by the improvements being made and remain committed to delivering better outcomes for our customers and the city.

"Strong partnerships are essential to the future of public transport, and Hull continues to demonstrate what can be achieved when operators and local authorities work together with a shared ambition to improve services for everyone."

The Hull Bus Alliance will continue to monitor performance closely and implement further initiatives aimed at improving reliability, supporting sustainable travel and providing an attractive public transport network for residents, workers and visitors across the city.
