7 Cracking October events on the Coaster bus between Scarborough and Bridlington!

There are few finer feelings in early autumn than settling into a window seat as the East Yorkshire coast unspools beside you. The run itself is a treat. Starting at Bridlington Bus Station Stand A2 and rolling all the way to Scarborough Railway Station, the Coaster calls at conveniently placed stops along the way, meaning wherever you fancy hopping off, there is almost certainly a stop that suits. Buses go every 30 minutes, daily until around 22:00, so you can linger over a late show without watching the clock. Leave the car keys on the hook, watch Filey slide past, spot the sea between the rooftops, and let someone else do the driving. It's only £3 each way for an adult or if you are adventurous then why not purchase a Scenic Explorer from the driver which gives unlimited travel on buses from as far afield as Leeds, York and Whitby across the East Yorkshire Coast region. Four Hundred Years of Water, Wellness & Seaside Fun at Scarborough Art Gallery is a brand new exhibition marking 400 years since Scarborough's famous spa water was discovered, and it runs all the way in October through until 30 March 2027. Expect a splashy celebration of the seaside town's obsession with water, wellness and good old-fashioned fun. Hop off at Valley Bridge, about a 3 minute walk away, and dive straight in.

Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf at Scarborough Spa

Thursday 1 October brings something splendidly strange to Scarborough Spa. Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf sees Lee sharing his stage with a tough-talking werewolf comedian from the dark forests of the subconscious who hates humanity. Yes, really. For the Spa, jump off at St Andrew's Church, about 6 minutes on foot. Delightfully bonkers, unmistakably Stewart Lee.

Mermaid Beach at the Stephen Joseph Theatre

On Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October, this great adventure drama set in a Welsh coastal town screens, with a teenage girl finding she can transform into a maid! It's a big hearted, fun-filled but profound adventure and tickets are only £9. Halfway along the route lies lovely Filey, and its Crescent Gardens outdoor market is running until Friday 2 October. Filey Outdoor Market at Crescent Gardens showcases the best independent small businesses in the area, from artisan cheese and preserves to fresh produce and mental wellness stalls. Break your Coaster journey at Filey Bus Station, a 10 minute walk away, and browse to your heart's content before hopping back on to continue the coast-hugging adventure.

Morpeth come to Bridlington for the big match!

It's a 15:00 kick off at Bridlington Football Club on Saturday 10 October against Morpeth. Results have been generally good for 'The Seasiders' recently, with a 3-0 victory over Whitby Town following home wins over West Auckland Town and Congleton Town, albeit a 2-4 reverse to Silden sandwiched between. This Northern Premier League East Division should be a cracker and the ground in Queensgate is a 13 minute walk from the Fortyfoot sop in Bridlington.

Filey Food Festival

The Evron Centre hosts an amazing culinary feast of a food festival on the weekend of 10 and 11 October! With over 75 enticing stalls there's all sorts of treats from gourmet pies, artisan chocolates, homemade cakes and locally crafted spirits and ales.
