Get rewarded for travelling by bus with BetterPoints Hull

Your next bus journey around Hull could earn you more than a trip to your destination. With BetterPoints Hull, you can collect rewards for eligible public transport journeys, as well as walking, wheeling, running and cycling.
Funded by Hull City Council, the free programme encourages greener, healthier travel and is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Hull. Whether you’re commuting, heading to the shops or meeting friends, it’s another reason to leave the car at home when you can and hop on an East Yorkshire bus.
Turn everyday journeys into rewards
Use the BetterPoints app to record your eligible journeys through Hull and start collecting points:
- Bus or train: earn 15 BetterPoints per eligible journey, up to two journeys a day.
- Walking, wheeling, running or cycling: earn one BetterPoint per minute, up to 30 minutes a day.
- Weekly prize draw: earn up to two BetterTickets a day for sustainable journeys, for a chance to win 250 BetterPoints every Monday.
BetterTickets are prize draw entries, rather than points to spend. The programme also offers bonus rewards and additional prize draws, with prizes including electric bikes, European city breaks and shopping vouchers. Check the app for rewarded activities and available offers.
Spend your points or support a charity
Every 1,000 BetterPoints is worth £1. You can exchange your points for vouchers from local independent businesses and high street brands, or donate them to local and national charities. Simply open the Rewards section of the app to see what’s available.
Getting started is easy
- Download the free BetterPoints app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Tap Join Now and create your account.
- If you register with a postcode in the Hull City Council area, you’ll automatically join the BetterPoints Hull challenge. If you live outside the area but travel into Hull regularly, enter the code BPHULL when you register.
- Complete the Get Started survey and turn on tracking in the top-right corner of the app.
- Start recording eligible journeys and collecting rewards.
Extra rewards for partner organisations
If you work at Hull City Council or Hull Royal Infirmary, or are a member of staff or a student at the University of Hull, you can also join a bonus challenge. Register using your work or university email address, or contact [email protected] to be added.
