East Yorkshire celebrates 100 years
Today

Today marks 100 years since East Yorkshire Motor Services Limited was incorporated on 5 October 1926 — the beginning of a story that has connected generations of people across East Yorkshire and beyond.
From the first services of the 1920s to the network we know today, East Yorkshire has been part of everyday life for a century. Our buses have taken people to work and school, brought families and friends together, carried visitors on days out and helped communities stay connected.
But our centenary is about much more than vehicles and routes.
It is about people.

It is about the generations of drivers, engineers, cleaners, controllers, supervisors, customer service colleagues and countless others who have worked behind the scenes and out on the road to keep East Yorkshire moving.
It is also about our passengers. Some have travelled with us every day, others for an occasional journey, but every one of them has been part of our story.
The historic certificate pictured here records the incorporation of East Yorkshire Motor Services Limited on 5 October 1926. A century later, it provides a remarkable link back to where our journey began.

A year of celebration
Our 100th anniversary will not be marked by just one day.
Over the coming year, we will be holding a series of special events and activities celebrating the history of East Yorkshire, our buses and, most importantly, the people who have played a part in our story.
Several events are already being planned, with opportunities to celebrate our heritage, share memories and bring together colleagues, former employees, enthusiasts, passengers and the communities we serve.
We will be announcing full details in the coming weeks and months.

Share your East Yorkshire memories
A hundred years of bus travel means a hundred years of stories.
Perhaps you remember a particular bus or route from your childhood. Maybe generations of your family have worked for East Yorkshire. You might have photographs, tickets, timetables or memories of journeys that have stayed with you.
As we celebrate our centenary, we want to hear those stories and recognise the people who have made East Yorkshire what it is.
Because after 100 years, our story isn't simply about where our buses have travelled. It's about the people they've carried along the way.
