As autumn settles in and winter approaches, we're committed to ensuring your journey with us is safe, comfortable, and smooth, whether you're hopping on board for work, school, or leisure. Here are a few simple tips to help you stay safe and visible during the darker months:

Stand Out to Stay Safe:

With the nights arriving earlier, being visible is essential. Throw on a high-vis jacket or wear some bright, colourful clothing to make it easier for our drivers to spot you.

If you're waiting at an unlit bus stop, crank up your phone brightness, but please keep your torch function turned off to keep our drivers' vision crystal clear. 

Track Your Bus Live:

Don’t wait out in the cold! Use the East Yorkshire Buses app for real-time tracking to see exactly when your bus will arrive. Even though our buses are reliably equipped with tech, arriving a little early to your stop is always a good idea, just in case Wi-Fi or network connections are slow.  

You can also set up personalised travel alerts in the app, so you’ll get the latest updates straight to your phone.

Stay Alert:

We know it’s tempting to scroll, text, or tune out with some music while waiting—but staying aware of your surroundings keeps you safer and helps you spot your bus more easily. 

Our drivers are extra vigilant at this time of year, but being alert ensures we don’t miss you in the dark or bad weather.
