We are delighted to introduce ourselves as the newest bus operator in West Yorkshire, and we can’t wait to hit the road and serve our local communities! Go Ahead West Yorkshire is part of Go-Ahead, a leading public transport operator in the UK . Our base of operations is in Cleckheaton, the home of our highly reputable Fourway Coaches, a company known for its excellent service and strong ties to the area. It will manage the day-to-day service, supported by our Head Office in East Yorkshire.
Our New 571 Service Starts on 23rd February!
From 23rd February, we’re thrilled to launch our brand-new 571 service. Taking over from our friends at Arriva Yorkshire and supported financially by West Yorkshire Combined Authority, this route will continue to provide vital links across Halifax, Southowram, Brighouse, Shelf, and all the stops in between.

Affordable Travel with Mayor’s Fares
We’re proud to announce that Go Ahead West Yorkshire is participating in the Mayor’s Fares scheme. This initiative, led by West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin, aims to make bus travel more affordable for everyone. As part of this scheme:
- Single bus fares are capped at £2 until the end of March 2025.
- MCard DaySaver tickets are available for £5, allowing unlimited travel on any bus within West Yorkshire for a whole day.
Other Tickets
All valid Metro products can be used on our buses, as well as concessionary travel.
With the support of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, we’re introducing some exciting improvements to this service. You’ll now benefit from:
- More frequent daytime buses, with services running up to every 30 minutes between Halifax, Southowram, and Brighouse.
- An additional afternoon service to Shelf, giving you more travel options throughout the day.
These improvements have been made possible through the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), a key initiative designed to simplify bus travel and make it more reliable and more enjoyable for everyone.

Get a live countdown of when your bus will arrive, buy your ticket from your mobile, plan journeys, and keep informed with service updates.
