Shock the Dock: A New Electric Era Begins
3 months ago
Hull’s waterfront came alive in spectacular fashion as we unveiled a bold new chapter, powered not by diesel, but by electricity, innovation and ambition.
Set against the striking backdrop of The Deep, “Shock the Dock” was more than a launch event. It was a signal that the future of travel in Hull and the East Riding has arrived and it’s cleaner, quieter, and undeniably exciting.
A Defining Moment
As darkness fell, our brand new zero emission buses lit up the dockside, sleek, silent, and full of promise. This £16.5 million investment, delivered through the Department for Transport’s ZEBRA scheme, represents one of the most significant transformations in local bus travel for a generation.
Powered by Partnership
This milestone has been made possible through a powerful collaboration between East Yorkshire Buses, Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, proof that when vision and partnership come together, real change happens.
Feel the Difference
When these buses take to the roads, passengers will notice it instantly:
- Cleaner air in the places we live and work
- Smoother, quieter journeys that transform everyday travel
- A bold step towards a truly sustainable future
Coming to a Route Near You
The future is closer than you think.
In the coming weeks, these electric buses will enter service on routes 56, 57 and 58, connecting Hull, Cottingham and Hessle, and Longhill, bringing this new era of travel directly into the daily lives of our customers.
