Free Travel for Veterans and Serving Armed Forces on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day
7 months ago
This Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November), East Yorkshire Buses proudly offers free travel all day to veterans and currently serving Armed Forces personnel. We want to stand with you in remembrance, gratitude, and respect, honouring the commitment and sacrifices made by the Armed Forces community.
Veterans and serving members are warmly welcomed to travel for free—simply show your military ID or wear your medals/uniform when you board. We hope this support makes it easier for you to attend remembrance services, connect with loved ones, or simply take a moment for yourself.
On both days, at 11am, our drivers will observe a two-minute silence by safely pulling over where possible. We invite everyone on board to join in this unified reflection as we honour those who have served, those who continue to serve, and those we will never forget.
You’ll also notice a number of our buses proudly displaying “Lest We Forget” messages as a tribute to the strength, courage, and dedication of the Armed Forces community.
Many of our staff are military veterans, so on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, you may see drivers wearing their regimental medals etc to show support for our armed forces.

Thank you for your service and thank you to our passengers for standing with us in remembrance.
