The Wolds Explorer 200 bus service is set to begin its operations on 30th March 2024, running on Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays during the summer season. This convenient service opens a world of scenic walks between Pocklington and Thixendale, allowing you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds.

The Wolds Explorer 200 bus service is perfectly timed to connect with the X46 and X47, providing excellent connections from key locations such as York, Market Weighton, Beverley, and Hull, making the Wolds Explorer bus ensure a hassle-free experience.

Here's an added bonus: any ticket purchased for the X46 or X47, including single tickets, is valid for use on the Wolds Explorer 200. This means you can enjoy the convenience of one ticket for your entire journey, from city to countryside, without purchasing multiple fares.

Huggate to Thixendale

Length: 6.9 miles

Duration: Approximately 4.5 hours (including breaks)

Walk Highlights:

Huggate Village: Begin your journey in the picturesque Huggate village, where you'll encounter the charming Well, a delightful pond, and the beautiful spire of St Mary's church.

Holm Dale: Traverse through the tranquil Holm Dale, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Fridaythorpe: Pause at the Walkers Shelter by the pond in Fridaythorpe for rest and refreshment.

Thixendale Valley: Marvel at the scenic beauty of Brubber Dale and the Thixendale Valley, featuring the exquisite art installation "Waves and Time."

Robert Fuller Gallery: Art enthusiasts should make a short detour to the gallery of renowned Wildlife Artist and Naturalist Robert Fuller.

Finishing Point: Conclude your walk at The Cross Keys, a beloved pub in Thixendale, where you can unwind before catching the Wolds Explorer bus for your journey back.

 

Millington to Huggate

Length: Just over 6 miles

Duration: Approximately 4 hours (including breaks)

Walk Highlights:

Millington: Start your adventure in the scenic village of Millington, known for its quaint pub, The Gait Inn, and the charming Ramblers Rest tearoom.

Minster Way Trail: Embark on a pleasant climb using the Minster Way trail, leading you to the escarpment with panoramic views.

Warren Farm: Join the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail near Warren Farm, where you'll begin your journey through breathtaking scenery.

Sylvan Dale and Nettledale: As you traverse Sylvan Dale and Nettledale, be prepared for some steep drops and climbs.

Huggate: Reach Huggate, the highest village on the Wolds, and admire the 12th-century St Mary's church and its impressive spire.
