We make our way to the hotel, with a couple of comfort stops on the journey. We are then welcomed with tea and coffee on arrival.
Today, we are met by our guide who will treat us to a full day tour of Hadrian’s Wall. We discover the true history of the Wall during this fascinating journey along Rome’s most Northerly frontier. Our expert guide brings Roman heritage to life as we explore Corbridge, a former Roman village, see some spectacular parts of Hadrian’s Wall and visit Roman Vindolanda to experience one of the best-preserved Roman forts and museums.
We visit Alnwick Castle, one of the finest medieval castles in England which features as several Hogwarts locations in the Harry Potter films, including the infamous broomstick lesson. In the afternoon, we visit Alnwick Gardens, known locally for The Grand Cascade of 120 water jets, one of the largest treehouses in the world and, of course, the gardens. There are plenty of refreshment opportunities before returning to our hotel.
Today, we take a drive along the scenic heritage coastline and cross the tidal causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, home to Lindisfarne Castle. We have time at leisure to explore and enjoy lunch before we visit Bamburgh Castle. Perched on rocks at the edge of the sea, the castle boasts magnificent views of
the Farne Islands. We call at the pretty fishing village of Seahouses en route back to our hotel. (Please note, today’s itinerary is subject to tidal times.)
On our final day we enjoy a leisurely breakfast and enjoy a visit to Beamish Museum, before arriving home late afternoon.
