Vacancy: Night Technician - Hull
East Yorkshire provides a professional, reliable transport service network throughout Hull, Scarborough, North Yorkshire and the East Riding. We take pride in our large fleet of commercial vehicles and have a skilled and motivated engineering team who look after it. We’re now looking for a Night Shift PCV Technician to join our team in Hull.
You’ll be working night shifts, with a 4 day on/3 day off/3 day off/4 day on working pattern. You should be Level 3 trained, and a good knowledge of PCVs or HGVs is desirable, but not essential, for this busy role. A PCV/HGV licence would also be an advantage but is not essential.
To apply, send a covering letter and CV through to email@example.com, or post to Chief Engineer, East Yorkshire Buses, 252 Anlaby Road, Hull, HU3 2RS.
This vacancy will be filled as soon as we find the right person, so we'd recommend you apply sooner rather than later.
About East Yorkshire
As one of the region’s leading public transport providers, East Yorkshire has been helping get people around since 1926, and over 32,000 people use their buses every day. That’s nearly 12 million car journeys a year taken off our roads.
Whether travelling to work, school, the shops, on a day or night out, or to visit friends and family, East Yorkshire makes sure people can get to the places they need to be across East Yorkshire, Hull, North Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. We also offer coach day trips and UK holidays, coach hire, and run National Express coach services.
With a turnover of £30m and a fleet of around 250 vehicles, East Yorkshire employs around 650 people, with a 150-strong engineering team. The company’s main engineering depot and head office is in Hull, with other depots in Withernsea, Elloughton, Pocklington, Bridlington and Scarborough.
East Yorkshire is part of the international Go-Ahead Group, which operates bus services across the UK, Ireland and Singapore, and is also responsible for about a third of all train passenger journeys in the UK, as well as running rail contracts in Norway and Germany. East Yorkshire has the benefits of being part of a big group, but is locally run and managed.
Engineers are important to East Yorkshire, and working for the company means you’ll get a lot of opportunities which aren’t available elsewhere. Over the last few years we’ve invested heavily in new engineering technology, including moving to Equinox, a paperless inspection system which uses iPads instead of paper forms. We’ve installed a new chassis wash, and we’re buying more state-of-the-art low emission buses, which reduce our carbon emissions per vehicle. We’ve got a lot of exciting plans for the future, so we’ll look forward to bringing you along on the journey.
You’ll get to learn a lot working here, as we handle most of our maintenance work on site, with facilities including a paint shop, MOT testing, body shop and inspection area, as well as new HYWEMA vehicle lifts.
You’ll also get a lot of benefits working here, including a free bus pass for you and your family, an occupational pension scheme, company sick pay and a great discount scheme where you can save money at places you shop, including supermarkets and high street names. We also have a long service reward programme.
