16th October - 29th January

This unique exhibition is an official event of the Japan Season of Culture in the UK. It brings together contemporary art and private collections of Japanese art and craft from across East Yorkshire. The core of the exhibition is a never before shown collection of traditional Japanese toys from the local collector Jane Irisa.

Furthermore, the exhibition features a display of traditional and vintage kimono, joyful souvenirs and good-luck charms, and a unique set of gifts from the Japanese Imperial Court. To celebrate the cultural dialogue between Japan and Britain, Laura Boswell's artwork will show the beautiful British landscape through the technique of traditional Japanese woodblock printing. The exhibition will also feature video presentations by Japanese exchange students from Hull University and Ochanomizu University, Tokyo.
