With hundreds of exhibits and loads of things to do, the National Railway Museum in York is sure-fire fun for all the family. Take a ride on the miniature outdoor railway, then see what the interior of a Japanese bullet train looks like, before finding out about the history of Britain's railways- this is certainly one of York's best museums. So if you love your public transport- hop on one of East Yorkshire's buses to York Railway Station and make the short walk to the museum.
The National Railway Museum is free to enter and has an on-site cafe and gift shop too.
Get the X46 or X47 to York Railway Station, or jump off a 45,46 or 747 at Station Road and it's just a short walk from there.
