Itinerary:

Day one:
We hit the road with some free time at Trafford Centre before we head to our hotel.

Day two:
This morning we meet our guide for a two-hour step-on tour of Manchester, unveiling a host of hidden gems as we learn about some of the ‘firsts’ the city has produced in its long and illustrious history. We move on to see see the Bridgewater Canal, uncover the story of the world’s first passenger railway, experience Sackville Park and the story of Alan Turing and walk in the footsteps of LS Lowry. Having built up a thirst, we relax with a drink in one of the many vibrant
pubs, with time to reflect on what we have seen, before returning to our hotel to finish with a flourish; a scrumptious two-hour afternoon tea washed down with unlimited prosecco – now that’s a treat!

Day three:
Today is all about Salford, a revitalised neighbourhood of Manchester that continues to grow and attract businesses and visitors alike. We kick-off the morning by boarding the Princess Katherine for a one-hour cruise around Salford Quays and the Manchester Ship Canal, during which we get an insight
into the history of the area with a unique view of Manchester, including MediaCity, Old Trafford and the disused docks. After time for lunch, our next stop is the Imperial War Museum, one of the world’s leading museums of its kind. A purpose-built and poignant exhibition, we can walk through a timeline from the First World War through to present day, accompanied by voices of the ordinary people whose lives were torn apart by the various conflicts.

Day four:
In the morning, discover legendary Carmarthen, the oldest town in Wales where Merlin was said to have been born. Then spend the afternoon exploring the quintessential seaside town of Tenby, whose narrow streets wind down from the medieval centre to the picturesque harbour, framed by pastel painted cottages. Wander through the charming, cobbled streets and take time out to watch the world go by from a quaint café or relax with an ice cream on one of Tenby’s glorious golden sandy beaches.

Day five:
After breakfast, we make our journey home, with a stop at the famous Bury Market on the way.
